Spreading The Word

I finally was able to get the email address and blog site for my cousin Trent. He is doing mission work in the country of Bahrain. He is over there with some other fellow Aggies spreading the word of God to all who will hear it, so please keep him in your prayers as he follows God's will.

He has been to so many amazing places already all of which you can read about on his blog. There is a link on this site under favorite links. It is the one that says Da Dez. It's slang for the desert. It will take you directly to his page.

He has learned so much in the short time he has been there, so much in fact that I dont even know. I do know that he learned to speak Arabic in less than 9 months. Thats pretty incredible if you ask me. I've heard it's a very difficult language to master.

So again, please lift him up in your prayers as well as all the others who have accepted this calling to do the work of God. They can make such a big impact on the lives of people who have never heard the word of God.

Trent, we love you and pray for you daily.

God Bless

T-ball Practice, Rock Climbing, and Swimming at YMCA

Today we went to the Y and met some of the kids that have been on our teams in the past as well as a new one. They are all signed up to be on Coach Jeff and I's T-ball team. This was just a little informal practice to introduce some of the kids to the sport, but most importantly for them just to have fun playing together. We had Tyler, Taylor, Caroline, Katie, and Caleb all there and all got to have a bunch of fun together. We practiced throwing, catching, and hitting the ball both off the tee and from a pitch in the air. All the kids did such a great job executing these things especially as this was very knew to all of them. T-ball requires alot more hand eye coordination than does soccer, so it will be a bit more challenging and at the same time be better in the development of their motor skills. Throwing at this age is usually not to much of a problem, however catching is something that they really have to work on as mastery of this usually comes at a later age. I was very pleased as was Coach Jeff to see how well they all did this early in their introduction to the sport. It will be very important that their parents work with them at home on these skills and fortunately it is something that they will enjoy doing.

We forgot the camera today so we apologize for not having any pictures. We will for sure get some for you the next time we play. Hopefully this time we can even post some video to the site.

Looks like we will have at least 6 to 8 kids returning from soccer to play T-ball so we are very excited about that. That was the team that won The Core Values Team of the Month. We hope to win it again, however we aren't really sure they will give it to the same team again. But you know we know we deserve it every time :o)

Keep watching the site and Taylor's page for more info and pictures of T-ball!

Wonka, Wonka, Wonka, Wonka

You guessed it. My beloved Cowboys have agreed at least in principle to trade away their 4th round draft pick For Adam "Pac Man" Jones. They will also give up another 6th round pick in 2009 if he is able to get his suspension lifted and plays the entire season. This would mean either being on the field or on injured reserve. They are in desperate need of a corner and he can return kicks also which is another need they have. So while I'm hopeful that another Jerry Jones charity case yields major production, I also fear that this guy is destined for jail. However, if he can turn players like Terrell Owens and Tank Johnson into almost productive members of society, then maybe he can help Pac Man do the same. This is a huge role of the dice in my opinion, but it has the possibility of being a lottery win as well since they wont have to pay him much. More on this later I'm sure.

Go Cowboys!!

Titans named Core Values Team of the Month!

Out of 1300 kids and over 120 coaches the Titans have been named the YMCA Core Values Team of the Month! It is called the team of the month, however it is only given out each season. This award was voted on by parents, coaches, and YMCA personnel that have seen each and every team and observed them during games and practices. I have been told by YMCA personnel that we do more with our kids in addition to soccer than most every other team. I always just felt as though we are doing the things that we are suppose to do...... mentor our kids.

Soccer is the vessel we use to convey many different values to the kids in a fun way. We use soccer to teach the kids the core values of the Y. Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Honesty, and Faith. We also teach them others such as Charity or Giving, Sharing, Kindness, and Prayer just to name a few. To be chosen for this award is a true honor. Coach Jeff and I take this responsibility very seriously. Coach Jeff is my assistant coach and has done a very good job in helping me teach these values in addition to the game of soccer.

The YMCA Sports Director will be attending our next practice to present the kids with wristbands that they can wear the remainder of the season so people will know that the Titans are the Core Values Team of the Month. They will also have their picture taken to be put on the front page of the next YMCA Sports Newsletter.

I am so proud of these kids and their parents for the role models they are for their children. I can honestly say that this is by far the most enjoyable season I have ever had coaching. The entire Y will now look to our team as a model for how things should be done. These kids are more than deserving of this award and I would like to recognize them now.
